Biography

Lisa (Murphy) Fullarton was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick in the 60’s and grew up on the Northside of the St. John River.  She has lived in and around the city, including Harvey, for most of her life, with a brief stint in Whitecourt, Alberta in the 80’s.

Lloyd and Geneva were the hardworking parents of two girls, Lisa and Melissa.  Lloyd was in construction and carpentry during his career, as well as a musician.  Geneva discovered her talent as a watercolour artist and instructor later in life.  Younger sister Melissa followed her passion as well, attending NBCCD and winning awards as a silversmith in 2008.   After art classes at FHS in the early 80's, Lisa pursued a career in office administration and accounting for many years.

2011 was a year of intense change.  Black Butterflies started showing up in odd places and times, and the artistic spark was back after 30 years.  A career change was in order, and the curriculum of the Aboriginal Visual Arts Diploma Program at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design was what appealed the most to her.  She graduated in June 2015 with a major in Basketry, and has been incorporating all the new art forms, culture and changes she has experienced.  She is currently working on refining her product line, and understanding what her recently discovered aboriginal roots mean to her and her work.

She currently lives in Devon with her husband of 29 years, her artistically gifted daughter and two spoiled dogs.  Her life long love of horses takes her back to nature quite often for inspiration.
